New Vista installation recognizes "burned" discs, but not program disks

The thread title says it in a nutshell.

I just installed a new DVD+/-RW burner (Sony/NEC Optiarc AD-7170 ATA) under Win XP, which was in addition to the Norcent RWJ-401S CD+/-RW.

Both drives worked great. I installed one program from the DVD drive and burned a whole lot of files to DVDs for my upgrade to Vista

Then I did a clean install of Vista Business (which went amazingly smooth). Those backup files on the DVDs were safe and sound and transferred to the new OS setup just fine.

BUT, now I can’t run ANY program discs from EITHER drive. Burned discs, yes, but program discs, no.

It’s the weirdest thing and seems so backwards to what you’d think would be the problem (writable media can’t be reconized, but program discs can).

I’m in the process of updating drivers for my motherboard - there’s an ATA driver - maybe that’ll do something. There are NO errors in Device Manager.

I’d REALLY appreciate it if someone could help me out here!

Thanks!
