New RitekG04 and NEC 2500a - using HerrieStock firmware

Herrie or anyone -

I wanted to run this by you to see what you think. I have been using the Herriestock firmware for just burning G04 Silver Matte discs only - They burn great - I was running out and re-ordered another 200 from the same supplier Meritline - when I noticed the difference in appearance in dye color and media codes, yet the packaging has the media sticker (102-002-050) when using these new disc - Nero (latest version) can only burn them at 4X oppose to the previous one when inserted burn at 8x. Attached are the media codes for both:

I really think that Meritline pretty much screwed me a lot of other people who order these discs as the diffference shows - but if there is any way to modify the speed to 8x using these #$%**_!!! discs I would be highly appreciate any help in this matter.

Many thanks in advance

Those are the new Ritek 4X DVD-R discs.
If Meritline specifically advertised RITEKG04, then you should be able to return them.
If Meritline advertised “4X Ritek DVD-R”, then they did nothing wrong, and you received exactly what was advertised…

Is M02 supposed to be worse than G04? (At least the above post suggest so.)

No one will advertise their product as “Ritek M02”. They will always use “Ritek 4x -R disc”. So… probably we have to spend more time to distinguish a good Ritek from a bad Ritek. :frowning:

I sent them back since the enclosed invoice stated that they were genuine Ritek G04 - I suggest that future purchases should be watched closely. I went back to the Samsung (ty discs) 4x +r’s from New Egg. They burn great at 8x never fails. They have them now at $37.99 for the 50 packs - Also they also have the G04 at $24.99 per 50 pack - but I’ll pay the extra for the TY’s.
