Good to see that not everyone has given up on the optical disc market. Unfortunately 6 months later, it seems nothing more has been mentioned publically by Vinpower, let alone any software actually released.
A quick search shows Vinpower registered the Plextools name on 1st June 2015. And last year it registered Plexdisc, Plexspeed, Plexcopier and even Plexwriter. (Also Optodisc.)
So I think we can assume Vinpower have licensed the name from Plextor. (Given how aggressively Plextor responded to PXScan a decade ago, it is inconceivable they wouldn’t have taken action by now.)
Based on the screenshot it look completely unrelated to the old Plextools or Plexutilities.
I suspect neither Erik Deppe (original Plextools, CD-DVD Speed & Opti Drive Control) nor Karr (KProbe, Plexutilities) have been involved in its development. The UI looks too different to any of their past work (a different SDK?). Some elements have a certain similarity to DVDIdentifier, and maybe QPXTool. But while this new Plextools remains vapourware we can only speculate.
Note: There is a project called PlexTools on Github (since 2013). A subtitle tool and entirely unrelated to optical discs.
