New Pioneer k16 Not BIOS

Previously, I attempted to switch my NEC slimline from master to slave after misreading instructions to flash its firmware. Needless to say, the drive is dead for the moment.

In the mean time, I picked up a new Pioneer Slimline drive, but the BIOS won’t even see it. Could my master/slave software have done something beyond just mess up the NEC drive? What could possibly have happened here? Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!

Answer is no.
The flasher for the NEC is for the NEC drive, nothing else. It has nothing to do with the Pioneer nor other hardware.

That’s good to know. Should I expect a Mobo issue? I’m getting power.

Nope, the firmware on the drive is connection specific.

There might be some confusion here. I didn’t actually flash the NEC drive with firmware (using the flasher). I used this utility to switch the drive from master to slave. Would that make a difference?

which drive? The new one? What does “connection specific” mean?

The firmware decides how the slimtpe drive can be used, either as master, slave, cable select, inverted CSEL…
