Check the Nero site, I couldn’t find where it was Windows 7 64 bit compatible. Windows 7, yes. I have not tested it, still waiting for my copy of Windows 7.

I didn’t know they were shipping Windows 7 yet. Microsoft says 13 more days. Is this a Beta version of Windows?

#3

Had it since aug 6th as it was made available to MSDN subscribers , and yes theres also a beta out to .

#4

Hi,

have you already tried Imgburn (www.imgburn.com)? That way you could sort out if Nero is the problem.

ses

#5

yes got imgburn mate , but would like to get nero working as it cost me £45 so would be nice to be able to use it instead of freebies , i only use nero burning rom too as i got convertx2dvd and blu ray convertors etc so not bothered about any thing else working in nero 9 just burning part .

thanks

#6

So Imgburn works for you and Nero does not?
At least there is something wrong with that Nero since this doesn’t properly recognise your OS

ses

#7

Yeah imgburn works fine and the burner built into convertx2dvd works fine, i thought when i had a email saying there was a new windows 7 compatable nero all would be fine , maybe it is because its the 64 bit version , weird why it says

Windows XP 5.1
AMD64
Wow64Process

when im running win 7 64 bit and got a intel quad cpu lol

I’m actually having luck with this latest version for the first time on Windows 7. I’m also running Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. Previous versions I’ve only been able to burn data and audio cd’s. Recode and Vision both failed in various ways and at various stages in their respective processes. I’ve successfully used Recode, and am now nearly done with a test Vision project.

Do you have any third party codec packages installed? Perhaps they might be causing some issues, as my current project has a ffshow icon in my system tray during the transcoding process, so I’m assuming Nero is using its own and if it were replaced that could certainly cause issues.

#9

im going to rearrange things , wipe me hd clean and do a clean install with no dual boot and install nero fresh and see what happens .

#10

Hi,

if I understood the remarks on Nero website correctly, then Nero does only work in compatibility mode if installed on 64bit flavours of Windows. No idea if this has to be forced manually or if that should work out of the box.

Michael

#11

tried all that and it does work to an extent but instead of burning a little and failing it was taking like 30 mins and only on 36 % so i just canceled it and uninstalled it rather than let it do my head in lol, when reading through the compatilbe list thats what i thought too , but i dont understand why imgburn and divx2dvd can work just fine no burning probs what so ever .

#12

From what I can see compatibility mode only applies to Vista 64. For Windows 7 64 it only mentions compatibility mode for the Nero DiscCopy gadget. So that implies it should work with Windows 7 64.

I think you may solve the problem with a clean install, although I am not sure why it would. It appears Nero is not identifying the OS and Processor properly. To me it sounds like a windows is having an issue, I don’t know why Nero wouldn’t use information from Windows to identify the Processor and Windows version.

I am curious how you like Windows 7 over XP and Vista. I’ll have to look for a thread on Windows 7.

#14

windows 7 is much much better than xp and vista , i even got it on my acer net book . im in the process of backing my drive up and doing a fresh install of windows .

#15

Windows 7 is great. Been using it since beta, and have upgraded 3 of my home PC’s and my main work PC to Win7. Usability is great, especially for users who like to have multiple apps open and multitask. Performance wise similar to XP on the same hardware.

#16

Thanks, I’m one of those people who always have 6 or 7 programs going at the same time. XP handled this much better than 98 and I’m glad to heat 7 is good as well. Never even tried Vista. Have 7 on order, just waiting for delivery.

#17

well after a fresh install of windows and nero it now half works ? it fails the first burn but is ok on the second , it does this with cds too ? really wierd , it also says vista 6.1 now instead of xp 5.1 ? still detects cpu wrong though .

Found the cause , if i turn off my kaspersky 2010 internet security it burns fine ? so now i need to find out why .
Found the cause , if i turn off my kaspersky 2010 internet security it burns fine ? so now i need to find out why .
I use both Nero 9 and Kaspersky 2010 and I have no problems, maybe you need to disable the " Anti -Banner " in the Kaspersky settings, that is the only thing I ever had to disable.

#20

Well ive worked out after lds of silulations i can have a green light on all the settings except “file anti virus” if i select this my burns fail ? im using 2010 version 9.0.0.463(b.c)

thanks

#21

finally its working with anti virus on , in the options tab i selected threats and exclusions and then selected exclusions aand then trusted applications and added nero and then selected all the tick boxes too

do not scan open files
do not monitor application activity
do not scan network trafic

now it finally works

took me a while to suss , but got there in the end

cheers
