Again a new release fixing some minor issues

This firmware supports +R(W) and +R DL bitsetting and DL burning for both 2500 and 2510!

Download (contains both 2500 and 2510 binary and latest version of NECWinFlash)

Have fun testing!

Donations using Paypal are always welcome of course

Release notes:
New in v3 Final Test 2:

This firmware is RPC1, allows bitsetting (using DVDBitsetting, DVDInfoPro or your recording software). This firmware is supposed to work on NEC 2xx0 drives, including NEC 2100(A), NEC 2500(A/B/Z/S) and NEC 2510(A/B/Z/S).

Modified K250->K210 in the binaries, so they allow flashing with TDB’s utility, for people who can’t get Liggy’s NECWinFlash to work.

DVD-R:
RITEKM02 4x @ 8x using 6x and 8x from MCC 01RG20

DVD+R:
VDSPMSAB001 4x @ 8x using 2.4x, 4x from VDSPMSAB001, 6x and 8x from Philips 081
POMSI00201 support corrected, should now allow 8x burning using Plasmon1 C01 strategy.
MPOMEDIA040 4x @ 8x using 6x and 8x from PRODISC R03
INFOME R20 8x @ 8x using INFOME R20 strategy from NEC 3500 2.18 firmware.
CMC MAG E01 8x @ 8x using CMC MAG E01 strategy from NEC 3500 2.18 firmware (might give write quality improvements!).

Thanks again Herrie

#3

wow just got back from college this second and there is a new firmware! thanks again herrie. px

#4

It’s on the firmware page again!

#5

Herrie, ya rule  Tnx

#6

Thanks, Herrie. I tested one of my POMS DVD+Rs @4x and the quality seems to have enormously improved compared to beta5. I can only scan with my brand new AOpen AAP Pro DVD-Rom which is not a reliable reader for error scans - but the error level is about 8 (!) times lower than a disc of the same batch burned with beta5 @ the same speed!

#7

I think you left this Media code out from your 2510v3-2.bin f/w, can only support to 4X whereas the 2500v3-2.bin support to 8X, thank you.

This is not possible, since I used exactly the same code to patch both 2500 and 2510 firmware

#9

Just to clear things up is that I upgraded my 2500A with 2510v3-2.bin instead of 2500v3-2.bin. The support is only up to 4X and if I upgrade with 2500v3-2.bin then it will support to 8X ???
I wonder where did it go wrong ?

#10

The writer I’m refering to is 2500A as I do not have the 2510A.

#11

I don’t know, just double checked when I dump the strategies from 2510 firmware I get 8x for AN32!

Edit:

NECDump 1.1 also shows 8x as max. speed

#12

Do you want me NECDump 1.1 to dump mine for you to take a look ?

#13

Wow, thanks so much Herrie for including that MPOMEDIA040 4x @ 8x. I’ll be trying it out shortly

#14

I’ve just checked with NECDump 1.1 & it also shows support to 8X ??
Strange!!

#15

Wonderful, I’m going to flash !

#16

This is what its showing with DVD Decrypter.Could it be (Part Version : 5) is the missing link ??

#18

HERRIE! You da man! Welcome back and THANK YOU for this firmware. It is very much appreciated by the 25xx community.

#19

is it possible to do autobitsetting w/ the 25x0 NEC drives, i mean w/o using any software?

#20

Herrie, In the .rar file there is only one .Bin file. Is there any problem using the 2500.bin file in my 2510 drive?

I’m just wondering if there is any problem since you state there is 3 files in the .rar archive, but I only find one file.
