After a very long period of no releases for the NEC 1300A, I’ve finally made a new update for this drive!

BronkowTech45 was so kind to send me his latest version based on NEC 1.0B/C with bitsetting support implemented :slight_smile:

I’ve added lots of mediahacks and speedups (all supported 2.4x DVD+R media should work @ 4.0x now :slight_smile: )

Download (contains both plain binary, NEC Official updater including binary and latest version of NECWinFlash)

Have fun testing! Please report issues, since it’s a “final beta” version (also called “release candidate”) which might still have minor issues!

This version does NOT work on the NEC 1000A/1100A yet!

Herrie, thanks a LOT for still doing work on older drives, the 1300 still holds up well in comparison to the newer drives despite its slower speed. I’m sure there’s still alot of people using their 1300s that will benefit from this new firmware :slight_smile:

Does this have riplock removed? It makes a huge difference on my 1300A. :smiley:

Nevermind, I downloaded and read the info file, yes its removed. Looking forward to giving this a try.

That’s great, especially since the official NEC support is non-existent for the last year or so.

You CAN flash it on your 1000/1100A, but ONLY +R will work for now. -R might work LATER with a new version!

I am using NEC ND-1300A with your firmware…works nice with PHILLIPS brand DVD-R at 2X… if i try to burn at 4X i get power calibration error. When i try to burn FujiFilm i get power calibration error… do you have a txt or can you give me a complete list of medias supported by your firmware

that would be great, i just got a cheap 1100a (dell oem, currently using etna’s 1eGE servo7 v1.32 rpc1) for my linux box and am very disappointed with it - all dvd+r media seems to work at 2.4x instead of 4x and it rips/reads like crap.

maybe a hacked 1300 firmware would fix this (and allow me to use all those 4x princo/ritek dvd-r’s i’ve got?!)

I’ve flashed my 1100A with de 1.0C version (without the recalibration patch) and so far it’s working great. I’m burning a –RW right now.
(riplock is removed, the region is free, and bitsetting is possible for +R)

looking at the page and the thread, etna’s not very confident it’ll work!

have you got any 4x dvd-r burns working?

i wonder if this will work in my dell servo 7 drive…

I’ve only tested some -RW’s
i never bought -R because i always used my ND-1100A with the original NEC firmware

My -RW’s a working perfectly with my pioneer drive, my nec and my sony stand-alone
also with nero speedtest i get a almost perfect line with just one minor dip.

I think tomorrow i’ll get some -R’s to play with.

Anyon else tried some maybe?

Anyone know if we can make this burner read DVD+R DL discs.
I have burned some on my BenQ 1620 and on my Nec ND-3520, but the ND1300 can not read them :frowning:

I believe reading SHOULD work (I didn’t test it myself yet though). Are you discs burned with DVD-Rom as booktype (might increase compatibility).

i tried this with my dell 1100a servo 7, but the flasher program exitted with some error code, so i guess i’ll just stick with etna’s 1ege.

just burnt my first dvd+r in my 3500a too - maxell 002 did 12x great (dvd-rom booktype too) using quikee 2.28 me3

OK…i need help Herrie! Ive figured out i can burn on my FujiFilm DVD-R @ 2X with my NEC ND-1300A fw1.0c. But the program i am using to burn it keeps spittin out coasters because it sux (deepburner). i cant use nero because there are no other speeds to select from. Only 4X which gives calibration error. :frowning:

Is there a version of the firmware that will allow me to select 2x in nero??
