I'm planning on getting a new MP3 player with my tax return this year and I have been really convinced on the Sansa Clip+.
I like it because it's small, inexpensive and only costs I think $30.
I've got an 4th Gen Apple iPod Touch 64GB right now and the real deal-breaker for me is that the Clip+ can use expandable memory through microSD cards.
I have heard the Clip+ will work with the 64GB ones if they're formatted to FAT32, so I just need a card reader and I have an app on my computer that will do the conversion quickly. After that I will be installing Rockbox on it to override the song limit built into the official firmware. I've also heard the SQ with a Rockboxed Clip+ rivals the iPods.
My question is, what are other peoples' opinions on the Clip+? Is there a better device that would be a better use of my money? My budget is ~$200, so I figure I can pick up the Clip+ and a 64GB microSD card or two for that price.
I don't really care about apps, I want this primarily for listening to music. I intend to keep my iPod Touch so if I want apps, etc, I'll put them on there. I want this for listening in the car, doing yard work, sitting by the pool, walking back and forth from school.
I wanted to wait until this summer for the FiiO X3 to come out, but I thought to myself - do I really need native 24/192 playback? Plus I wouldn't be able to sit out by the pool with it for fear of spilling my beer on it or something. The Clip is inexpensive and easily replaceable.
What are your guys' thoughts on it?
