New Hard Disk : WD2000JB Show me 127GB Only@@@

Hi all,
I just buy a new hard disk, Western Digital 200GB, 8MB buffer, WD2000JB model.
Isetuo, But I only see 127GB storage, NOT 200GB!!!

I have a Shuttle motherboard model : Shuttle MV42(N)
And I just upgrade the bios from ((mv42sn04)) to ((mv42sn08))
And I have windows XP pro SP2 (I didn’t setup SP1 before)

And I still have the problem, How can I fix it?

Thank you
Doctor Aziz

there is a problem, it is a known issue, look it up on Microsoft to enable large drive support.

I would partition it…but thats me…

Thank you Salty85,
Okey I am going to microsoft.com to search about it.
Any idea?
Thank you
Doctor Aziz

Thank you rolling56,
Are you sure that when I make partitions it will be work @ 200GB?
I need to format hard disk again, right?
Another way?
Thank you
Doctor Aziz

I guess you’re looking for this:

You might also need to upgrade BIOS to get LBA 48-bit to work properly.

Yes if the partitions are 127 or smaller…You will need to format and loose anything you have on it. Up to you…i just like to have partitions on mine 40,60,80gig and keep my data on it in folders so i know where everything is. You can format a partition later if need and not have to do the whole 200. Give drive letters like M: for music etc. Up to you. You can change drive letter of a partition in Disk Management later if you want to.

Thank you DiiZzY,
I already Enable 48-bit LBA, nothing happen!!
I have 127GB not 137GB!!

Thank you rolling56,
But can I make a new partion without format and delete my all files?

Thank you so much
Doctor Aziz

I format mine when i install it…and you can make more partitions with-in a partition with your XP disk…have to try it and see. If you can’t …move you files to another drive and partition it and move them back after.

Thank you rolling56,
Any another way?
Thank you
