Has anybody noticed the following message when using SMART-BURN Media Check Program v.1.0 (40x) :

                    Released Date : 2002/4/16
                        Revision : V1.0
                   Drive Models : for 40X CD-RW

        LTR-40125S : all firmwares (latest update:ZS0C)
        LTR-40125W : all firmwares (latest update:WS02)

Where are these 2 latest FWs ? Neither the LiteOn's site nor Google searches have given me any hits.
Are they as usual getting late to be displayed @ LiteOnIT ?

WS05 is for LTR-40125W, prolly it’s “match more media” BIOS, there is no visible diff. between WS02/WS03 and WS05. Exept mail with attachment soon

Are you sure it’s manufactured by TDK? To my knowledge, TDK doesn’t manufacture their media – they usually just brand other manufacturers, like Taiyo Yuden or Ritek. My 32x TDK is made by Ritek. Nearly all branded media you see sold commercially is made by somebody else, usually CMC, TY, or Ritek.

In Europe much TDK 32X-48X media IS manufactured by TDK!!!

TDK RefleX 80min 32X certified:
This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 15s 05f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = TDK M-dye
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 48X

ATIP: 97m 15s 05f
Disc Manufacturer: TDK Corp.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Seems to be very high quality media to my testing so far.

Don’t think they are availible outside Europe but I do not know for sure…

Agreed.
I recently tested two 24x certified TDK media (D-view and Reflex-Ultra-X) manufactured by TDK, SmartBurn allowed to burn it at 48x. Quality test results was fine. Speed of writing was awesome for one of that medias, details follows.

Approx 693 MB of Data (Mode-1) burned in
2 minutes 40 seconds on TDK Reflex-Ultra-X (24x)
2 minutes 49 seconds on TDK D-view (24x)

Hmm, speaking about “fast” medias, Philips based on CMC, 16x certified was burned at 48x speed, in 2 minutes 43 seconds.

AbrahaM

PS. Sorry for my english
