Any comments? Find it here:http://www.iomagic.com/Firmware/FirmwareDownload.html
Thanks for the heads up. I will try it out tomorrow on the Fuji TY02’s and Verbatim MCC004’s i have here and post the scans.
Wow, a G firmware comes out before a B firmware?
Does someone know whats changed? Changelog?
I’m suprised there’s not any more comments about this, I’ve burned a few with it, my burns seem to be the same. Not much better and not worse either.
Same here tool fan. Just finished testing with Fuji TY02 and Verbatim MCC004. Don’t know what’s in the change log. Nothing came with it. Just the flasher. Forgot to mention UDMA 2.
I just picked up another I/O MAGIC BENQ 1620 drive from Office Depot since I got them to match price Circuit City & CompUsa again. Paid $72.90 out the door plus the manager told me to come back tomorrow and return the drive so I could get the $30.00 manufacturer mail in rebate form. The drive is in their Sunday sale ad with the rebate. I’ll be returning both drives so I can get that mail in rebate form. Not a bad price at all for 2 drives it will only cost me $85.80 after the mail in rebates.
Is the official BENQ “B” firmwares better than the I/O MAGIC “G” firmwares? My first I/O MAGIC had the “B” firmware and I flashed it to the B7P9 firmware. I’ve read the threads on flashing the drive from a “G” firmware to a “B” one. Is there a big difference as far as quality is concerned. Before I flash the second one I’d appreciate any comments. Thanks in advance.

I find it strange that it would jump from B7S9 to G7Z9.
Au contraire! It jumped from G7Z9 to G7M9.
G7Z9 was created on 22 Oct 04
G7M9 was created on 26 Oct 04
G7Z9 is old firmware, apparently older than G7M9.
If I/O Magic has some explanation for this irrational and ass-backwards identification scheme, it may be too embarrassing to disclose.:o
To make IO-Magic’s DW1620 more attractive than NU DDW-163?
