The best and fastest combination was LG GSA-4120B plus Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+R in the review.

8X region PI levels don’t look so hot for Taiyo Yuden media.
It looks like LG has some opportunity for improvements with the 6X burning strategy.

Isn’t it 8x?

Taiyo Yuden YUDEN000 T02 media for 900 Won. Writable at 12x. Cheaper than Ritek 4x.

Another guy confirmed Fusion 4x DVD+R can be burned at 12x with Lite-On 1213S and LG 4120B. It’s TY T02, not T01.

So I’ve ordered 500 discs of Fusion 4x DVD+R myself just to see.

I also ordered 50 4x DVD-R, 100 700MB CD-R, 100 650MB CD-R. All TY. Total cost including shipping and 10% VAT under US$450. This time I used the retail channel.

Did you say 500??

Yes, not 500 x 50 packs, but 500 discs. 10 packages of 50-disc spindles.

I didn’t order 1,000 or more because it’s quite obvious to me every media manufacturer will try produce only 16x DVD+R and 4x DVD+R DL media for some time just to stay in business. The price competition will be like nothing in the past.

There are enough makers to supply lower-speed DVD media for under US$0.25. It will force 16x DVD+R media manufacturers to make the price closer to US$0.5 and then to US$0.4.

I tested the 4x DVD+R at 8x, 12x, and 16x with some LG and Lite-On writers. Half successful but there are probably some more room for improvement in a close future. As I don’t have many That’s 8x DVD+R, I haven’t compared results with That’s retail T02 with the Fusion OEM T02.
