New DVD not playing

I am new around here so please bear with me.

A few days ago I bought a pair of DVDs in a bargain bin at my local store. Since the price was low and I had never had any trouble shopping there before I did not think to keep the receipt. Now when I try to play the movie it shows the Universal logo with sunrise and all, and then nothing. Screen goes black, DVD stops spinning and nothing happens.

When I try to check the content of the DVD the movie is there, with soundfiles and everything but since it is copy-protected I can’t get to the movie.

Other movies works just fine so I don’t think it is the drivers or my computer. Any suggestions? I doubt that the store will take it back without a receipt, no matter how low the price.

Try the free trial for AnyDVD or DVDFab to break encryption and put the dvds on your hard drive. Using the free trial of DVDFab you can even reduce them in size to fit a single layer dvd if you need to (most commercial dvds are too large to fit without compression).

Or you could use the free program DVDShrink to compress. Just use AnyDVD or DVDFab to do the decryption/ripping.

You can use a very fine burning program called ImgBurn to do the actual burning to a disk. It is free to download and use.

thank you kindly

Depending on what movies they are, there were some DvD’s that where put to market that had botched copy protections. What resulted was that the DvD’s would randomly play on selected DvD players only.

An example was Casino Royale.
