Not sure what's wrong. I have a new Dell XPS Studio desktop, i7, OS Windows 7, that came with an all-in-one DVD/CD-RW (all device manager and Belarc can tell me is HL-DT ST DVD+-RW GH SON ATA DEVICE). I bought it new in November 2009.
I have burned many movies with no problem, but now, about every other attempt, it copies to the hard drive perfectly, but rejects the disks as "not blank". These are new Verbatum and TY disks. I even opened a new stack in case there was something wrong with the previous disks, same thing. You have to insert up to10 or more disks before it will accept one and finish burning without a problem.
The next time I go to burn a couple of disks, it will accept some it has already rejected, then starts the same old thing again, "disk not a blank". There is absolutely nothing, not even a fingerprint on the disks. I am using IdealDVDCopy, and have had great success with it. I don't know if it is something simple, like needing a cleaning disk, or something wrong with the burner, or something wrong with the burning program, or ???Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
