New drive and old drive not recognised

i recently put my new pioneer 112D into my tower, and it replaced my old CD/DVD burner. The other drive in the tower was a bog standard dvd drive, but i thought i should replace like with like. However, when i rebooted my computer the drives were seemingly no londer there. system manager didnt detect them, there is no shortcut for them in my computer, however the power is clearly on as i can eject both drives, and the lights flash on the drive. Does anyone have an idea why i can no longer detect my drives? the old burner i replaced was an NEC CD/DVD burner.

Welcome to CD Freaks.

Master/Slave jumper settings?

@ Rigters,

Welcome to the Forum.

For the Pioneer DVR-112D to function and perform correctly requires the use of an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html) connected correctly (note the color coding) as detailed in the proved reference and operate in the Ultra DMA Mode 4 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616).

Ensure that in fact you are using an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable and that your Pioneer DVR-112D is operating in the Ultra DMA Mode 4.
