Hi raymondtrudeau

From the log you posted it seems the drive is detecting the media you inserted but the log doesn’t show the write speed you have set for the burn, also it doesn’t show the MID-> (Media ID)

What burn speed do you have DVDFab set to ? and what brand of media are you using ?

i have it set to burn at 8x and iam using prodisc dvd they worked fine on my old computer…also it says error 100?

the new computer came with roxio pre installed is this interfering with dvd fab?

i tried to use another program called convertxtodvd and it burned the disc…

I would suggest using Verbatim disc and burning at half the rated speed of the disc to start with.

Also I would get rid of the roxio and go with imgburn as the burning software with DVDFab.

Just my 3 cents worth

There are two error codes that are listed as 100…

Read error-> 100 DVD_Error_OpenFile

and

Write error-> 100 HWS_INITOK 0 // Write init ok - write process has started

I don’t see anything in your log stating the source file :confused:

what DVD title are you trying to backup ? also is it on a DVD or on your hard drive ?

i have tried verbatim dvd as well no luck…the movie is on my hard drive and i also tried image burn as the default…and as soon as press start i get the 100 error…i think i may uninstall roxio do you think they are interfearing/

Roxio is not the problem, I have it on my system and have no issues.

If the file is on your hard drive then the error code is related to the opening of the file, which may be corrupt, I suggest you re-rip the movie.

The format of the external hard drive does not have anything to do with it, what program did you use to rip the DVD with ?

i used dvd fab…i have like 40 movies on there…the funny thing is if i choose to customize(from the external hard drive) an choose to save to my documents instead of writting it works

Try using “Write Data” mode
ok i just had a thought i was trying to write from my external hard drive…
Assuming you are running Windows 7 on your new computer, you should switch your energy plan to “Max Performance”.
Also, if the external HDD is a USB powered 2.5" drive, use an USB hub with power supply. Even better: connect a power supply to the HDD.

Ok what is weird is if I transfer the movie to my documents and choose write data it works. If I customize from my documents and write to DVD and have it save a temp to the external hdd it saves

Then if I now try to write the movie from the external hdd it will write?

So what you are saying is the “Write Data” mode is working for you correct!!
