LDW-811S: HS0P: Mirror 1 (rpc1.org), Mirror 2 (cdfreaks.com)

Useo LtnFW available from the Tools sticky for the binaries

I can’t say for sure what’s fixed and what’s not, that’s where you guys come in. Let’s see some results!

Do you have any info on changes / bugfixes?
(praying for -R compatibility)

[edit]

  1. Sorry didn’t see the last sentence on your post. If you get that info please share!
  2. The mirror 2 links are swapped (FS0J and HS0P)
    [/edit]

Supposedly just a few write stategy improvements for some media…

Sorry about the links being switched. That’s fixed now.

OC and I have checked out this firmware over the past few days, I thought it would be good to pass along some info.

FS0J in particular was pretty disappointing, error rates on common media are too high, IMHO.

HS0P seems much better. I’ll post a few scans to illustrate, these tests are all done on the same drive.

Ricoh JPNR-01 (Memorex 4x DVD+R):

Burned with FS0J at 4x:

Burned with HS0P at 4x:

Burned with HS0P at 8x:

CMC CMCMAG. (Verbatim DVD-R 2x):

Burned with FS0J at 2x:

Burned with HS0P at 2x:

I only did a couple tests, but FS0J does seem to improve DVD-R compatability with my home movie player. Unfortunately, HS0P did not seem to improve this issue.

I haven’t done a great deal of testing with HS0K, mostly with HS0E, but not enough to make an intelligent comment either way. I don’t see a big difference with HS0P. Bitsetting sems to work fine.

Well in my 811 drive it seems to burn coasters or bad quality with my Memorex and MCC plus media. The minus was OK but depending on reader fair to good. I think I’ll go back to J or E.

#7

big thanks for the links i’ll check it out when i get up in the morning

Thanks for the scans. What software were you using when burning in the 811s?

#9

why was the new liteon fw removed from your site? you can still get it from the above links but is it not safe to flash my 411 with it?

#10

Whoa Nice

I’ll Check it Out, Thanks Mate

EDIT: Will post scans soon, and see if the bitsetting tool still works…

My Drive Just Crapped Out in the Middle of a DVD Burn!

Arf

:Z

Here is a RitekG04 (Silver Top) burned at 4x with the latest 411s firmware (FS0J). Looks like a nice scan/burn to me. A DVD movie burned with DVD Decrypter.

It also played fine on my Daewoo DVD Settop and my XBOX with a samsung dvd drive.

How do I use a bin file to flash my drive?

Link PLS?

http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/english/english-load-firmware.htm

just offers a .bin file and their instructions:

http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/english/english-load-how.htm

suck

#16

Testing testing 1 2 3 4.
Thread fixed. Carry on.

#17

FS0J: fixed some incompatibility problems with standalone writers it seems, but writequality (especially with DVD+R) sucks for the most part.

HS0P: seems to be same or slightly better than HS0K, no big changes found.

#18

Has anyone tested CMC DVD-Rs (burned at 4X) using FSOJ?
Has FSOJ improved error-rates and compatibility with these CMCs when compared to FSOF?

@dhc014, I noticed that LiteOn does not yet have these firmwares posted on their website. Is LiteOn still working on the final build of FSOJ/HSOP or is it just because they have not yet had the time to post the files up?

EDIT: added (burned at 4x)
