Like 99.9% of all networked MP3 players it requires software be loaded and running on a PC somewhere to do any work, so whatever is wrong with your PC is also wrong with your music player. The Audiotron came out in 2000? Runs WINce, is still supported with new firmware and does not require any PC software be loaded, just needs standard windows file sharing. So it works with Samba (and every OS Samba runs on)
