I am unsure if I have the .XXX letters correct, but I believe they are .MDS and .MDF files – Nero doesn’t seem to recognize them!
Is this a files that Nero can handle, or will I need to switch to another burner softwares to handle them?
I have Copy2DVD - - will this handle this type of file extensions?
(If needed, I have access to Alcohol or recordNOW) - - but hoping that Nero will do the job for me - -

Use alcohol to burn mds/mdf images (it’s alcohol’s native format).

What to do if I have these mdf/mds-file as one big file; after used winrar to zip-out and combine to a whole to one movie ( I have downloaded all of these zip-files ( from my newsserver with GRABIT ) to make the movie: " van Helsing ".

I always use daemon tools (you can download it for free).
Just mount the image to a virtual drive.
Then use copy dvd to dvd and tell nero to read (on the fly) from the virtual drive.

You could also use ISO buster to convert the images to ISO format so Nero can read those.

Volgens mij hoort dat hier op zn engels?! 
But for helping you out, you just have to rename the .mdf or .mds into .iso and then you are able to burn the file with Nero. And yes it will be a playable DVD. But even better try burn it after renaming with DVD Decrypter. That is the better burning engine for DVD iso files. 
And otherwise Alcohol 120% is the burning tool for mdf. 
But you wont need it.

Misschien mogen we een uitzondering maken om het in het nederlands te doen. Het is immers een technisch verhaal en het is niet onze moedertaal (en dit rijmt).
Het antwoord op je vraag is ja!
Het is heel eenvoudig.
Je downloadt en installareert gewoon daemon tools. Rechts onder in het vakje van de tijd krijg je een rood icoontje. Dubbelklik hier op of klik eens rechts. Zoals je ziet maakt daemon tools tot 4 virtuele drives aan. Bijvoorbeeld K, L, M en N. Zoek nu een virtueel station uit, bijvoorbeeld K. Hij wil dan weten waar vandaan hij de image (bijvoorbeeld je mds of mdf bestand) moet mounten. Wijs hem de weg! En kijk daar! Als het goed is krijg je een melding alsof je een DVD in je DVD speler hebt gelegd. Hij heeft de film al uitgepakt. Om hem te branden selecteer je in NERO de optie DVD kopieren (1 op 1). En klaar is kees!
Daemon tools is ook heel handig als je bijvoorbeeld iso’s van spellen of zo krijgt. Je hoeft ze dan niet eerst te branden, maar je kunt ze eenvoudig mounten en van daar uit installeren.
Geloof me, in het begin dacht ik ook wat moet ik hier weer mee…
Maar nu twee jaar later gebruik ik het nog steeds!
Veel succes er mee, als je er niet uitkomt hoor ik het wel!

^ This worked out fine for me, rather than installing Alcohol. If you use the latest Nero 8.2.8.0 and Daemon Tools 4.08 HE or similar…here are some easy to follow steps :):
Mount the .MDS file on Daemon Tools
Open Nero Express / Image… / Copy Entire DVD
The Source is on what drive the .MDS file is mounted on, in my case its drive F: …
And that’s it :). Bye.
