Nero Recode 9 Burn Issues "Writing to Disc Failed"

Hey, I’ve always used DVD Decrypter or Magic DVD Ripper to rip movies and then Nero Recode to burn them. But after a reformat, I installed Nero 9 and Recode doesn’t seem to want to work.
It will load the video files fine but when I start the burn process it works for a few seconds then says “Writing to Disc Failed” with no other hints as to what went wrong. I tried taking a look at the log file but besides some obvious stuff it’s all gibberish to me.

I’ve tried this with five different movies, some ripped with DVD Decrypter and some with Magic DVD Ripper, same results every time…

I can, however, use ImgBurn to successfully burn movies that I’ve burned with Magic DVD Ripper with the option to shrink the movie to fit onto one disc. I’d just use this but I do have 20 movies on my HDD that are ripped in full quality and ImgBurn doesn’t have an option like Recode to shrink them and then burn them, plus I really like Recode’s interface and the quality DVDs it produces.

Here is the log file and if there is any more information I can post please feel free to let me know!

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!!

I didn’t really see one that fit perfect so I figured I’d put it here.

You can use DVDShrink instead of Recode to reduce the size of the dvd. Then burn to a disk using ImgBurn. Just click on DVDShrink in the previous sentence and it will take you to the download here at cdfreaks. Quality output from Shrink will be indistinguishable from Recode.

There is even a version of DVDShrink which can burn automatically with ImgBurn. You can find the executable here: http://rapidshare.com/files/35280436/Shrink_w_ImgBurn.rar Uncompress the rar file with 7zip or Winrar if you have it. Then replace the executable file in C:\Programs\DVDShrink with the one from this download. You will now have the option to burn with ImgBurn instead of DVDDecrypter.

I have checked this download with my antivirus/antispyware programs and it is clean. You should do the same however, as a general rule with downloaded material off the net.

Not many of us are using Nero 9, so you aren’t going to get many responses for it. If you prefer, I can move the thread to the Nero forum here at cdfreaks.

Well you don’t want to cross post so just stay here now.

The log you posted is incomplete, where is the part that describes your set up and Nero version?

wow, haha, I guess that shows how well I looked huh!?

Thanks for posting that link for DVD Shrink and also that .exe for burning straight to ImgBurn… Works flawlessly!

I guess I finally get to ditch Nero (I’ve been waiting for that for a loooong time)

Thanks again guys!

I use a combination of AnyDVD,DVD Rebuilder & ImgBurn.

Though obviously you don’t need,or you currently have AnyDVD anyway,as you’ve ripped to the HDD already.

If starting from scratch, make sure you exit AnyDVD once the disc’s ripped,(as .vobs,.ifo & .bup, not as an ISO image, just to avoid any conflicts with ImgBurn

DVD Rebuilder & ImgBurn can be completely automated to work together & convert/burn a DVD+DL to a single layer ISO,without any discernible drop in quality, whilst you have your tea, watch a bit of telly,or whatever you fancy doing at the time.

The whole process usually takes somewhere between 45 & 90 minutes here, depending on the source. ie:1 film or a TV series/episodes.

Edit:Whoops I’m soooo slooooow these daze :o
