[NERO] "media not empty"

Sorry if this is something not new but I’ve been
cannot make nero recognize the blank CDs I’ve
put in the burner.

I’m running NERO in windows XP and
my burner is a HP external (USB) 8220e
(from the 8200e series).

I’ve installed the new version of the ASPI dll
and also re-installed nero several times
but it made no difference.

What is interesting is that if I use a CD-RW
nero will say it is not empty and ask me if
I want Nero to erase the Disc. If I say “yes” it
will erase the disc but it continue to say
media is not empty.

Please. Any ideas on how to solve this?

i’ve had the exact same problem. Win XP nero, and an external burner, its a microsolutins backpack drive. Anyway, what version were you trying to reinstall? I suspect that if you upgraded to the newest version (5.5.9.0), it might take care of your problem, i will try that haven’t done it yet, and will let you know if it works for me:D

#3

well, i am happy to report that it worked for me and good luck to you!!! oh by the way, i downloaded nero 5.5.9.0 and ran it and it upgraded my software and it hasn’t given me that message again!!

#4

Great. I’m going to try it right now. Up to the beginning
of the week this 5.9 version was not available. I see
it now. I’ll also post again if it works for me. Thanks.

#5

Nope!. It’s worse now. When I did an upgrade to 5.5.9.0
nero cannot find my external drive even though it is there.
I can go to My computer and use the drive. Any thoughts?!

now this truly is strange. Have you contacted nero? I would and also i would try updating the ASPI Layer and maybe even reinstalling the newest drivers for your burner

#7

maybe you’ve tried this out already…

Uninstall
Clean registry
Reinstall (to last working version)
Update from there

I never had any “woring version”. I used to have
the “media not empty” problem and now the latest
version cannot identify my recorder. I’m not sure where
should I start updating from.

In anycase, I’ve tried to update from several different versions
but when I get to the latest it can never identify
the recorder.

So, use the version that id’s your burner - wait for a future update in Nero that will

You can always mail Nero about it

I’ll do this, wait for another version.
I already mailed them but got no answer back.
I mailed them about 4 days ago. When the id problem came
up. Thanks a lot.
