Wow, you guys (kngdngalng, furballi and DirtyRobotFeet) are fantastic. I actually managed to sort it out this morning (I'm in the UK and it's now about 9.15am) before coming to the forum to tell everyone. I had searched everywhere and TreeSize was showing what I expected i.e. that I had used less than half of my hard drive. Windows and Norton were showing otherwise. I'd already emptied the Norton Recycle bin and deleted all temp files etc so assumed this was OK. As I'm pretty clueless really I went into the Norton Protected Recycle Bin again but this time I purged all 'my' protected files wondering what might happen. In 5 seconds flat I regained 45GB! As my HD is only 80GB this was a massive amount. There are still 228 Norton Protected files in there but I'm scared to delete them in case they are important. I'll have to search to see what they do and if I need them. I wonder why I couldn't see these files at all when I searched for new files on yesterday's date. Well protected indeed. I wonder why TreeSize couldn't see them either.
This DVD burning/copying seems to be a horribly complicated thing for someone who just hopes to press the button and then it runs perfectly. It seems I have zero knowledge but thanks to you guys I can prevent this from happening again. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing and I try to interfere with things as little as possibe.
kngdngalng I didn't even know about this tab but now I do and will certainly check it from now on. I thought it was a little odd that the copied DVD's were being written to the hard drive but I couldn't save them and I'd to do a subsequent copy from scratch. I suspect that (when I buy some 16x discs which I hope will drop in price soon) I'll be able to do some very fast burns.
