Nero 'Illegal Disc'

Hi all

I am currently using a LG DVD-RW (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4081B) drive.

I just purchased some TDK DVD-RW 4X discs and when i attempt to burn anything onto the disc an illegal message appears in the log and the burn fails.

I have read some other threads saying that its the TDK discs that are causing the problem, is this the case with me???

Woops, forgot to say i was using Nero 6.6.0.1 to burn the discs with.

Genuine TDK are first class media - I doubt it. Post in the Nero Error log and we’ll tell you.

I see you said you be useing "TDK DVD-RW 4X discs " what are you useing the RWs for!! How are you useing them…For Videos etc we normaly use DVD-R or DVD+R.
More info would be nice…

Hi I got the same problem (illegal disc, and couldn’t perform disc at once)using a tdk dvd-rw4x (4.7GB single side). It gave me problems with media files (dvdiso) and video files too.
My dvd writer is a sony dru500a and usually it doesn’t create me any problem with sony dvds (are the only ones which don’t give me any kind of problem!)
Since I bought it I just updated the firmware to the 2.0 version…
this is what the log file says:

An Unusual Error: ‘CANNOT WRITE . APPLICATION CODE MISMATCH’
Falls into the Media Error Category caused by a software issue. Try a diffferent brand of RW and if it errors post back that log. This log is unfortunately not specific enough.

ok thx! But if you need some other info just tell me where to find and I’ll post them.

PLEASE HELP!

I tried in Ashampoo Burning Studio 5 and it also doesn’t work. On my laptop it works. What is the problem?

Hey guys, new on here. I am having similar problem. My sony dvdrw #dwq30a
das recently started acting up. When I backup a movie with dvd shrink, clone dvd, or dvd decrypter, it backs it up fine but when it comes time to burn it to a dvd, it fails. I am using verbatim dvd-r discs and have been since I started using this burner. I have nero 6.6 . I have gotten messages of illegal disc, wrong disc, etc. I have also upgraded the firmware and still does not work. If I burn it to a dvd-rw disc, it works fine. But when I copy entire disc with nero , it fails. Nothing was changed on this computer prior to this happening. I have been using this drive for almost a year with no problems. Any ideas??? Thank you in advance.

nevermind. adjusted settings ok now.

I too have the same errors using Nero and while this post details my problem, the next post just advises some changes were made, Could I ask what changes to allow me to try the same ?? please.
