I’d really appreciate it if anyone could help me… thanks!

Your drive is currently using firmware version 104D. You might go to the Dell site and make sure that is the latest. Many times a firmware update will help the drive recognize newer media.

If it is up to date, you might try a different media, like verbatim to see if it helps. Also, try to get a media in line with the burning speed for your drive, which appears to be up to 8x for DVD+R.

I am having the same problem, can anyone help?

I would take a guess that your drive’s firmware doesn’t support those (16x) discs, since it’s only burning at 2.4x.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that a 4x burner? If so, you’d probably be better off trying to find some good 4x media…

can’t i just set the speed down or something? i never had a problem like this before

If your firmware doesn’t support those particular discs, all it’ll give you is a “default” speed (usually 2.4x or 4x) - nothing else. Only if the discs are supported in the firmware will it give you more speed options.
