Nero help!

Hello…
I have a Gateway MX6450 notebook computer. I’ve had it for a few months now, and I have never been able to get CD or DVD burning to work with the internal Philips SDVD8441 that it came with. While it was under warranty, I have already had the drive replaced. Yes, a brand new drive. This did not solve the problem. I have also made sure UDMA mode2 has been activated for the drive, and the firmware has been upgraded to the most recent, PA49. The VERY rare time the burn is successful, the disc is not readable on ANY optical drive.

I have also attempted different burning software (including Nero6, Nero7, Roxio, CloneCD, PowerISO). I have used 7 different types of media (including HP, Memorex, AudioBahn, Maxell, and 3 no-name brands).

I have also connected a friend’s USB 2.0 burner, and it burnt successfully on the first try…

Please, Nero Gods…Help me out. I’m out of options because Gateway refuses to replace the drive again!

Here is the most previous Nero log file.

====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======

Ok, everyone…I think I may have fixed the problem…

I have successfuly burnt a KVCD as well as a data-DVD.

“What was the problem?”, you ask?

Well, I disabled my firewall. Yeah, I don’t understand either…but somehow that did the trick. Anyone wanna try to explain why? I thought firewalls only looked at network adaptors?

When I first got the laptop, I was using Norton Internet Security Suite. I removed that, and installed Sygate Personal Firewall Pro, and have been using that ever since. I disabled it, and tried a burn. Worked first try. Wierd huh? Both Norton, and Sygate were messing up my burns.

WARNING ON NERO 7
WARNING TO anyone who is thinking of up grading to Nero 7 ultra—do not do it –hang on to your money—I build computers & this down load version will never install on any PC you will ever own. There are no plans for a patch or upgrade since this is a recent upgrade from version 6.
I would keep using Nero 6 reloaded—it works and is more reliable.

Tech support is lousy—takes them 10 days to get back to you & you will not get your money back-it is a useless piece of software that will have you going nuts for several to nine weeks just trying to see if you can install this darn software-on any one computer—you might even try to re format your drive and just install window 95 only and then try installing Nero 7—I have not done this –but this is what I was told to do from some one, that had the same problem with Nero 7 –you can not install any software on your hard drive except windows 95 then this software might install once—

I usually like Nero’s products, but this one is a real failure—does this software have more than five customer’s world wide that actually had a successful install on a PC with XP?—I refuse to re format my drive and install Windows 95 and have nothing running except Nero 7.
I assume for those like me- if you purchased Nero 7 ultra Edtion—we will have to wait until 2009 for a fix or a patch to fix this buggy software.
BE FORE WARNED!!

WARNING ON NERO 7

lol…there are tons of people who have Nero7 working. Just because you haven’t quite figured it out, doesn’t mean people should be warned.

I build computers

ahaha…what does building computers have to do with Nero? This is software, and you clearly deal with hardware.

Besides…in my post I clearly stated I tried a few different pieces of software, Nero6 and Nero7 included.

Thanks for your post…but the problem has already been resolved.
