also tryed different versions of nero

A first check would be to try different sw. Give ImgBurn a try. It’s freeware and if this works, you’ll know it is a problem with Nero.

You can try to upgrade the firmware of your recorder and/or try different media (though MCC004 are very compatible). Finally, you can upgrade your version of Nero. I think v 8.3.xx is available for download…

Thanks for your reply i did do the update with nero and still no luck,i have used image burn and also burnaware they work fine with the burning but i cant play the discs back on my pioneer dvd player that is the only reason why i would like to use nero

You are using Dvd+R, have you checked to see if your drive supports booktyping? Post the failed ImgBurn Log, ImgBurn / Help / ImgBurn logs.

no it doesnt support booktyping,i dont have any failed imageburn logs because it works with image burn
Thanks for your reply i did do the update with nero and still no luck,i have used image burn and also burnaware they work fine with the burning but i cant play the discs back on my pioneer dvd player that is the only reason why i would like to use nero
If ImgBurn works for you, stick with this!

Try to see if you can bitset your DVD+R media to DVD-ROM. This increases playback compatibility, especially in older DVD standalone players. If you cannot do that, try a DVD-R media with ImgBurn. You can also try a different brand!

Finally, a fw upgrade could be of use

i tryed verbatim-r they dont work on my pioneer also formatted my hard drive did all the updates and nero is still not working.if i could find another brand of sw. that would work with my pioneer i would use it.there has to be a way to get nero working, a friend of mine is using nero with tdk gold and has no problems i just dont get it ,there must be something i’m missing

It doesn’t look like a SW problem to me. Did you try the discs you successfully burn, with eg ImgBurn, if they play fine to your PC and to other standalone DVD players?

yes they work fine on the pc and also on my other stand alone dvd which is a lg

could there be a problem with the motherboard?

Looks like a drive problem to me too.
Maybe cleanit, also check the ide cable.

checked the cable also swapped it around , how could it be the drive if it works with other burning sw.?

So, just to resume and make it clear:

You burn DVD+R and DVD-R media fine with ImgBurn in your Asus DVDRW at your PC. These discs play fine at the Asus drive at your PC.

But they don’t play at your Pioneer. This is a standalone DVD player, right?

Did you try the same discs at another standalone DVD player? If they work there fine, I guess it must be one of these two things:
a) your Pioneer needs some cleaning or has a problem
b) your Pioneer is very picky about the media to read. You can experiment with other brands.

I’m affraid I can’t think of anything more at the moment…

pioneer is a standalone dvd , it plays any rental dvd and any other dvds that have been copied with nero . i have tried the discs burnt with image burn and they work fine in my lg.dvd.but not in my pioneer and also not in most of the dvds my relatives have, which doesnt help because i do a lot of home movies for me and my relatives overseas.they never had any problems with any of the dvds that i have done for them with nero.that is why it is so important to me to get nero going again.

To be honest, nero is bugged crap. More bugs with every new version…

For copying, use FREE tools from videohelp.com/tools instead.

Thanks for the info i will try videohelp.i wish i could find another program that is just as compatible with stan alone dvd players as nero is.
