Nero CD-DVD Speed, WNASPI32.DLL, and Nero 5.5.8.0

I have just installed Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.16 onto a computer of mine that has Nero 5.5.8.0 on it. I didn’t think the fact that Nero 5.5.8.0 is on there would matter, because I just copied the latest WNASPI32.DLL version 2.0.1.74 into the same directory as CDSpeed.exe. But I used a diagnostic program to look at CDSpeed.exe, and it is actually loading an older WNASPI32.DLL version 2.0.1.45 from the Nero 5.5.8.0 directory.

So a couple questions:

  1. Does it matter that CD-DVD Speed is using the older WNASPI32.DLL version 2.0.1.45, or does it require the latest version 2.0.1.74?

  2. If it does require the latest version of WNASPI32.DLL, then can I just replace the old version in the Nero 5.5.8.0 directory with the latest version? Is the latest version fully compatible with Nero 5.5.8.0, or could it break something in Nero 5.5.8.0?

Hi and welcome to CDF. As long as you have CD-DVD Speed on your computer is really doesnt matter what version of Nero you have. It can be downloaded as a standalone program, and no it cant break anything. WNASPI32.DLL can be downloaded from the Nero website and CD-DVD Speed also has there own Website. I believe if you do a search in our Media Testing Forum you can find all you need. Happy Holidays.
