NERO...An Explanation needed please

Hello CDFREAKS,
Now this is quite weird, today i backed up
Terminator 3 using Dvdshrink and then Nero 6 to burn. After
successfully completing the tasks i decided to test it in my PC
using Powerdvd. No problems everything seemed fine so i
decided to test it in my standalone player before i copied it to
a dvd+r. After inserting the disc in my standalone player it’s
being recognized as MP3 and i’m unable to view. I then tried
playing the said disc in my PC and everything is fine. How can this be?
I’ve also tried backing up the movie with Instant copy 8 and
it plays in my standalone player and also my pc.

Thanks for reading this and for any replies that may follow.

This is not strange since it’s a very common problem. The problem is, is that a software based DVD player such as PowerDVD is much more tolerant when it comes to playing DVDs than your standalone player. I think you simply didn’t use the right settings in Nero which resulted in a disc that your DVD standalone cannot play. Try using this method to burn your DVDs with or if that fails, try burning the files with CloneDVD (that works for me!).

What a coincidence!!!

I backed up T3 a couple days ago with DVDShrink and it worked fine in my stand alone Sony DVD player. When burning, did you select “DVD-Video” as the method to burn?

Thanks for the info lads,
I gave up with NERO and used IC8 instead, now T3 plays in my standalone. I’ll return to NERO sometime over this weekend and play around with the settings.
