Nero 7.5.9.0 lead out problem

Hi All

I have recently updated nero 7 from 7.5.7.0 to 7.5.9.0 and ever since then I have a problem
all discs I now burn fail to either write the leadout at all or the program sits waiting for ever trying to write the leadout
when the first case occurs this error mesage results when the second case occurs a restart is requires to close nero and be able to open the drive again
the discs burnt are useable but when every burn is a failure one gets dissapointed very quickly

any suggestions, here is the error log

Regards Bernie

I can only guess, but from the way you describe your problems, you might have some type of software or installation problem.

Did you use clean tools to remove the old version, or did you use the ProductSetup?

If the problems continue, I think I would use the clean tools to remove and then reinstall.

It looks like your media should be OK, but you could always try changing it. Maybe you got a bad batch.

It also appears your problems start with the Data Verification process. You might try turning that off to see if it helps.

Thanks for the answer saltgrass

I did a removal of the previous version, then used cleantools, then deleted the Nero7 folder under Program Files, then did a norton windoctor, then finaly installed the new version but no different still fails on verify of leadout.

It is almost as though the leadout is not written to disc but being skipped altogether

Regards

Did you try turning off the veification process?

Data verification failed

Since it says you have a good burn, perhaps it is having trouble reading from the DVD. Try another media to check. You should also try slowing down your burn speed to 4x to check.

Once again thanks for the suggestions Saltgrass

Yes if I turn off verification Nero says burn complete

But then any other program say like DVDinfoPro when testing the DVD has errors only at the last few sectors on the disc
I presume exactly where the lead out should have been but was not written by Nero 7.5.9.0

I have used the same media for at least 2 years and in packs of 100 at a time
and never had a problem with any Discs till the upgrade/reinstallation of Nero 7.5.9.0

The media is TDK DVD-R 16X TTH02

Regards

Did you try slowing down the burn speeds (4x)?

You might also check, in NeroBurning ROM, under options, expert features, “enable generation of short lead-out”. I have never needed it, but you might try.

I have an similar problem with this newer versions. Whenever I burn CDs or DVDs from Images the lead out failes. The burned media is completely readable.

It seems to be quite interesting that burning CDs in TAO mode never failes. Only DAO mode is the problem.

I get the same lead-out problem with foreign iso images on Win XP Pro 32bit with Nero 7.5.9.0A
but the burnt CD is readable and seems perfect

You have DMA in both of your drives off tha might be source of your problem try to turn the DMA in your DVD-RW and DVD-ROM if you have on and reboot and try again.

Thanks for the reply TCAS
however these drives hang off a JMicron JMB386X controller on a Asus P5B mobo this Sata to Pata controller does not allow adjustment of DMA settings in either Windows or BIOS however if you look at the time taken to burn the 4.7Gb DVD ISO file

5.29 minutes of burn for 4.7Gb not bad for 16 speed write with DVR 110
but this is not possible with DMA OFF

Just a note about some DMAs, if you do have SATA drives, you might check in Device Manager under SCSI and RAID Controllers, then look for the properties of your controller. Under the Device Info Tab, the DMA information should be listed.

Nero reports the DMA for my hard drive as off, but the other info says it is Ultra DMA Mode 6! A little reporting problem Nero hasn’t resolved.

Sorry I’ve been slow responding. I’ve been too busy until now to address a very similar issue on my own setup, and have only just spotted your post.

I haven’t had a chance to compare logs but it sounds like a similar issue - not identical though. I got it after updating from 7.2.0.3 to 7.5.7.0 (in both cases, the “Lite” version from www.updatepack.nl).

When I was cutting an ISO of a video DVD, it would seem to burn ok, but verification would fail at 99% or 100%. At first the discs seemed ok, but in fact they all had errors right at the end - even on short videos. The graphs on CD/DVD Speed were going through the roof towards the end, and if I tried to load the disks that had failed into DVD Shrink (as a quick way of checking them) it would freeze one second from the end and announce a cyclic redundancy error.

Going back to 7.2.0.3 solved it.

I too have a Pioneer DVR-110. I was burning Verbatim 16x media at 16x. Drive showed as “DMA on” in InfoTool.

Good luck with it!

Hi All

have just upgraded to 7.7.5.1 will test out system and see if problem prevails or has been fixed by this update

Regards

Problem still exists with 7.7.5.1 will have to leave verify off till nero solves the bug introduced at level 7.5.9.0

I can concur, I have the same issue with 7.5.9.0. It led me here to see if anyone else was seeing this.

I do have a Pioneer DVR111. I wonder if the Pioneer is the common theme here?

I have switched over to ImgBurn, it burns the same images fine. I hope this gets addressed quickly…

lasko

Hi all,

I’m using 7.7.5.1 version at the moment, and didn’t experience any of the problems that were posted here until recently. It started when i was used a new batch of RICOH -R discs (MID: cmg am3). I tried several disc’s (even tried another spindle of the same MID) and all of them seemed to burn fine, exept from the leadout, which took forever to finish (>15min). On verification of the disc, everythig looked ok (no bad sectors in NERO disktest), The error-ratio was kind of high though but the disc could be read perfectly on my standalone player.
When i turned back to the +R discs (TY0002 and MCC004) the leadout was ok again. It looks to me that the problem resides on -R discs only, but i’m a little reluctant to get another spindle of another make to check things out.

Any others perhaps to verify my findings???

Hi Everyone

I just replaced the DVD reader in my machine with a second Writer
I had a pioneer DVR110 and a pioneer DVD121 as master and slave on the Jmicron Sata to Pata convertor built-in to the motherboard (Asus P5B)
I now have the DVR110 still as Master on the Jmicron controller but have added a Pioneer DVR212 on the ICHR8 Sata controller.

In windows Device manager the DVD drives no longer show as SCSI drives
and the data verification once again works as it should

please dont ask me why, I am completely confused
but very glad all is ok again

Regards
