Nero 6605 Blank Check Command Error

Hi

I just installed Nero 6605/NVE 30118, an for good measure, swapped my CD Burner for a DVD ROM/ Burner Combo (Samsung SM-352N). My Burner is a Pioneer 106D (going to upgrade soon). I use AnyDVD.

Thinking I could now backup my DVDs ‘on-the-fly’ to Ritek 8X G05 media, I fired up Recode and set it to go, with the settings as follows (from the log)

Burn settings:
Target: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D
Number of copies: 1
Write speed: 5540 KB/s
Temp folder: C:\TEMP (25287655424 bytes free)
Direct burning: true
Target media: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R9 Double Layer
Shutdown when finished: false
Advanced Analysis: false
Compress Adaptive: false

It appears to burn thew whole DVD fine, but right before the end, we get:
13:40:03 File dvd_record.cpp, Line 420
DirectBurn offset: VTS_01_0.IFO 27424

13:40:08 File NeroRecorder.cpp, Line 690
Burn failed (3)

Also in the log file is:

Result is a coaster that the DVD writer and my DVD player won’t load.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is going wrong and how I can fix it?

Just tried NeroVision Express recoding an Avi to DVD - tells me it fails ‘writing disc structure’

Grr!!!

#3

Nero burning Rom burns a DVD_ROM fine, though, with the same media.

So the problem seems to be something with Nero Vision/Recode, when writing out the lead-out/disc structure.

I would remove the following driver from your PC as it is known to really mess up recording.

Description : Primary IDE Channel

Driver
Description : system32\drivers\iaStor.sys
Company : Intel Corporation
Version : 3.5.0.2568, 06/17/2003
Description : Intel Application Accelerator driver

Attached Devices
Description : Master: Raid 0 Volume
Type : Disk Drive
DMA : On

But this may cause problems with you raid0 setup.

What media are you trying to burn with (brand and meda code)?

The other way to do it is get Recode to make a disc image & then burn that with nero. I usually do it this way as if anything goes wrong I can re-burn from the image & dont need to re-encode the disc again.

I don’t think I’ve had problems due to the Intel driver…any refernces for this so I can have a read? Since my Raid 0 is my primary boot, I’m wary about mucking around with it!!

The media is RITEK G05 as identified by DVD Identifier…

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:RITEKG05]

Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Ritek Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [RITEKG05]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4,489.3MB = 4.38GB (4.71GB)]
Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x , 4x]
[6x And Higher Might Not Always Be Detectable]

[ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]

Making a disc image is a good idea if problems persist but the whole plan was to get on the fly recoding working now that I have two drives…

Thanks for your help

readiing that, it seems they realise that on-the-fly is stuffed, at least for a number of people.

Stunned they will wait a whole week to fix it though…would have thought this would affect THOUSANDS of customers.
