I think there is an update for your version of Nero 6.

Physical memory : 502MB (514160kB)
Free physical memory: 57MB (58628kB)
Memory in use : 88 %

You don’t have a lot of memory to start with & this is way too much in use.

Burn process started at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s)

What other write speeds are available & what brand of media are your Dvd+R?

I would try ImgBurn to try & take Nero out of the equation, if that fails, then post the ImgBurn Log.

This is an extremely old drive which doesn’t support any recent media available on the market. Consider buying a new DVD burner.

Michael

Well I dont understand its been working just fine and I am able to burn regular cd’s just not dvd’s =(

I think you just got some great advice, I saw threads dating back to 2004 on this drive. Along with that I would recommend that if you do go with the new drive you use either Verbatim (widely available) or Taiyo Yuden (TY) (online). Here is some info on system resources etc, but if you don’t know what to do, don’t do it, get somebody that knows what they are doing to do it for you.

I am thinking about buying the new drive but just still confused on the fact that I am able to burn cds fine w/the same brand of disc but the dvd part does not burn getting illegal disc error…confusingggggggg

I am no tech. You could try blowing it out with some canned air or cleaning it with a Dvd Cleaner. But it is still going to come down to old drive/new media. From what I have read there are 2 lasers, one for CD & one for Dvd, yours could have crapped out or just be dirty, who knows?

Ugh well now I am try to shop for one unsure which brand and stuff…ugh I am thinking of an external one. Need to see which would be compatible with the Imation DVD+R cuz Verbatim aren’t around where I live and I don’t like buying stuff from the internet.

So now I am going to figure out which one to purchase…

Hi,
I am thinking about buying the new drive but just still confused on the fact that I am able to burn cds fine w/the same brand of disc but the dvd part does not burn getting illegal disc error.
CD-R burning is something totally different from DVD burning. CD-R blank media is mostly supported even by old drives, but this is not valid for DVD blanks.
Your old drive might even be a better CD burner than some brand new DVDRW drive

And: The brand of blank media doesn’t say much. Even under the same brand, the discs may be made by different manufacturers.

I 15:41:48 Contents: 9 Files, 2 Folders

Can you tell us what this is?
Can you tell us what this is?
I’m unsure about that there because I was burning 1 folder w/an avi in it thats all.

I am going to purchase a HP DVD1040E or a Lightscribe IDVD20DLSE which one of those are better to burn with Imation DVD+R discs?

Does your standalone Dvd player, play AVIs? If not, did you convert this AVI to Dvd compliant files, IFO, BUP & VOB before trying to burn it?
