Just a ventured guess, but from what I’m told, the 1620 has issues with 2.4X burning…You need to be at 4X or higher–as a sidenote, Ritek media is garbage…Don’t buy media that says “Made in Taiwan”
–this being said, I’m a newbie too, so hopefully a guru will answer you with something more indepth

#5

Ken, I ran into the same thing. I took the first few lines to mean there was some conflict betweeen the two versions of aspi. Nero has its own aspi driver and you do not need another one installed. I had just instaled the v4.60 drivers so I used restore to go back before I had installed Nero, and then reinstalled nero and everything worked fine after that.

#6

The 2.4x is for DVD9 D/L discs. There is now a factory firmware to allow the drive to write at 4x on some dual layer discs. Suggest you spend sometime reading in the forums

If your burner is on the same IDE channel as the source HDD, you might have problems, particularly when you reach higher burn speeds. You may want to put those items on opposing IDE channels. Make sure you use an 80-wire cable. That MAY be why your nero only wants to burn at 2.4x. You may want to try a nero CD-DVD Speed burst speed test to check. If you are CHOOSING to burn at 2.4x, try a 8x or 16x burn.

For some reason, I don’t know why, but your nero is not identifying the MID of the verbatim 16x (MCC004) that you said you were using. You BenQ/Nero should identify the media MID or it will default to a generic burn strategy. Since you have the latest firmware, it SHOULD recognize the MCC004…this is kinda strange. I don’t think it is your ‘failure’ problem as the first error log you posted the media WAS identified correctly and the operation still failed(at 2.4x). With the default burn strat, the burn should be successful, you’ll just get poor results.

#8

when the verbatim media kept failing i tried the cheap stuff figured if all i was doing was making coasters then why not make cheap ones… by the way can anyone make any sense out of the sense codes??? i noticed i had 2 errors and not sure what they mean

#9

@ ken30sc
3 good reasons to not use cheap media: 1.Cheap media will always cause problems 2. Using cheap media can hide many other problems 3. To troubleshoot a problem, you need to rule out cheap media as the cause, so you will need to use good media anyway.

Did you try a burn after moving your burner?

The first error code is the one to be concerned mostly with, the others are usually resulting from the first.

Ken30sc,

First of all, I have the exact problem with you right now and the same log.

I am using nero 6 and benq 1620 and firmware B7T9.

  1. I used to burn DVDs with nero 6 , no problem at all until I re-install it due to other problems. After re-installing, I got this error msg and cant get beyond 1%. I am using the same media all along and with no failed disc until now. (Mitsubishi chemical)

  2. I use the same disc that failed in nero and burn a DVD-video with DVD Shrink and it comes out alright. Hopefully you have not throw away the failed discs yet. So it does not seems to be media problem.

Try upgrading your program to the latest web version. This may resolve your issue. Link: http://ww2.nero.com/us/nero-up.php If not, try some different source files. There could be any issue with your video file.
