You could try removing the Prassi (Sonic/Veritas) software - or, indeed, using it instead of Nero to see if Nero is the problem or the drive is.

The only other alternative is to try to track down a firmware upgrade for the drive.

I can’t give any further details on the exact error encountered (it’s not in my sense code list), but the problem was during the end of disc finalisation process.

I appreciate the Response, but it still continues to fail, If anyone has any suggestions id appreciate…

Thanks again

:iagree:

#4

Try different media is the only other thing that comes to mind - particularly, try DVD+R if you were trying DVD-R beforehand - or DVD-R if you were trying DVD+R.

I am able to burn DVD(+) R media without much trouble. It does however burn “weird”. The media i burn has to be burned in UDF/ISO format under nero, if i burn it under straight ISO format it is generally unreadable on my laptop DVD drive. (the laptop is less than 6 mo old, HP with DVD drive). Additionally i have succesffully burned one or 2 DVD(-) R disks, but i have made about 12 coasters (bad DVD(-) disks). It is very puzzling…

#6

Try closing all applications running in the background as antivirus scanners, shields, network utilities, messengers e.t.c.

if still no success then either your recorder has went nuts(you may have to replace it) or it is very selective on the brand of dvd-r discs. Check at the manufacturer’s site to see the list of media recommended and supported.

Prior to disabling antivirus software do a good virus scan of your system using the latest antivirus bases.

#7

i found a firmware for your recorder at this page:
http://www.memorex.com/service_support/software_display.php?id=456&dl=p.
if you havent install it yet, then do.

I look at the faq but couldnt find list of recommended media for your dvd±RW. I suppose memorex dvds will do.

#8

Hm not sure this firmware is for your recorder, and as i saw the link doesnt work, go to this

http://www.memorex.com/service_support/software.php

and choose firmware updates , check the part number to see if the bios is meant for your recorder.
