Nero 5.5 suddenly won't load in W2K

After two years of flawless performance, suddenly won’t load and the error message saying that nero.exe has generated errors.

Two steps taken already:

  1. reinstalled. Same problem.
  2. Uninstalled Windows Media 9. Same problem.

Any other ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Uninstall, then use the Nero cleaning tool downloaded from Ahead. Then reinstall.

Tried that, but still the same result.

Any other things to do?

Could it have to do with a anti-virus program?

Have you recently added any software of any kind?

If I look at the error log in W2k it appears to have something to do with Norton antivirus, but not changes there except regular updates and disabling the NAV doesn’t seem to affect it either.
