Sorry if this was mentioned. Since the Nero BD player carries the BD logo, should we assume it will be Cinavia enabled? Did you try playing a ripped Cinavia title?

#3

I found confirmation of Cinavia in the Nero player a while back: http://club.myce.com/f32/commercial-software-players-detect-cinavia-drm-329380/#post2661254

The new Nero 12 seems quicker than the last few versions. At least on Win 8 anyways.

#5

Did anyone with version 12 confirm if it steals file extensions and unknown file extensions? I know version 9 did steal my file extensions rather then let me assign what extensions go for Nero 9…

#6

2.71 GB download… I guess that’s not so bad for Nero. I still won’t buy it, though.

All I use from Nero is Nero Burning Rom. The rest is bloatware to me. I just download Nero Lite which has all the fluff removed.

#8

I also like their cover designer which is now a free application to print on my discs.

one word only = IMGBURN

I used to run Nero but that was back in version 5, in version 6 they went bloatware and have done so since then . any Aplication that is pushing 2 gigs better be some kind of high end Cad/Video or 3D app but surely not a Cdwriting app. I have been using IMGBURN for years now, and honestly it’s very small and clean, no bells and whistles just made FOR WORK!!!

Nero is still bloated!!!

IMGBURN

Does it still downloads and installs the bloody ask.com toolbar without user’s consent?
(It did before. And there was no opt-out, because it sent requests to ask.com at the very start of the installer. Thus after installation I’ve had to manually remove that thing.)

#11

^No. I just updated ImgBurn in my backup machine and you can choose not to install the Ask toolbar during installation.

#12

You can always choose to install that or not!

There’s a reason why it’s bloated and that’s because they needed to introduce apps that provided more than just disc burning. As there were a number of free disc burning apps provided by other vendors, Nero would have little success selling a dedicated disc burning app in any decent quantities. Yes, it is big at over 2GB, but remember it is more than just a cd writing app nowadays.
