Need to attach audio cables from burner to soundcard in windows xp?

i was wondering if it’s still necessary to attach the audio cable from the burner to the sound card in win xp? because i remember reading that this is not necessary. thanks for any help.

In Windows 2000 and XP, I believe it is called “enable digital audio” under the properties for a CD drive. The drive must be good at DAE for this to work well though.

You can find them in Windows 98 too
