Make sure, DMA is enabled for this drive. Current transfer mode should be UDMA 4.
See http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/troubleshooting-enabling-checking-dma-windows-vista-xp-2000-me-9x-101616/

Also make sure, you have your drive connected using an 80conductor IDE cable (that’s the variety with blue, grey and black connectors).
“not applicable” means, there is no drive connected. If there are several IDE controllers listed in Device Manager, please check them all.

It might also be a good idea to tell us, what motherboard (or controllers) you are using.

Hi mate.
My motherboard is a P5QL PRO asus board.
The controllers i am using I’m not sure?
I’ll just write down what it says i have in device manager?
Under ide/ata/atapi controllers?
It says…

Intel®ich10 family 2 port serial ata storage controller 2 - 3a26
Intel® ich10 family 4 port serial ata storage controller 1 - 3a20
primary ide channel
primary ide channel
primary ide channel
secondary ide channel
secondary ide channel
secondary ide channel
standard dual channel pci ide controller
standard ide/esdi hard disk controller

Thats what it says there m8.
If i done it wrong can you explain more what i need please?

Thanks again fopr helping.

Any more help please?
Sending me mad this.
It just is not reading the disks well at all?
Does any1 know what make n model it is from the info i posted b4 aswell please?

Thanks

You have 3 primary and 3 secondary IDE channels. So check them all as previously described.

Something else:
Your drive is connected to a Marvell 88SE6102 IDE controller. Compatibility with optical drives is often questionable. You might try if the latest drivers for that Marvell controller does help.

Sorry to ask these questions but what exactly do i have to check them for?
