Hello,

I just purchased a plextor PX-716A and I am having trouble creating disks. I receive 1st a “Buffer too large” error followed by “Invalid Field in Command” then “Could not perform end-of-disk at once” I am attempting to burn an ISO file to Sony DVD+R’s. It worked a few weeks ago but since then it will not work and the burn process aborts just after I press the burn compilation button. I have the latest firmware update (1.06) and NERO 6.6.0.6 Enterprise Edition. I have Maxtor 120 (primary master), Maxtor 80 (Primary Slave), Plextor PX-716A (Secondary Master) and Plextor 40/12/40A (Secondary Slave). I have made no changes to my computer since the first disk was burned (on Sony Media). Also in device manager the two drives are listed under DVD/CD-ROM Drives not IDE/ATAPI… Here is my nero error log. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forums: Get your UDMA fixed and then try. It’s a start. See if you are using M$ IDE drivers while your there.

#3

I cannot figure out how to turn on the UDMA/DMA mode, under device manager I have two catagories (relating to drives and your previous reply)

-DVD/CD-ROM drives (this contains both plextors and the AXV) this contains:
AVX CD/DVD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device
Plextor CD-R PX-W4012A SCSI CdRom Device
Plextor DVDR PX-716A SCSI CdRom Device (drive in question)
The PX-716A contains the following drivers:
AFS2K.sys
cdrom.sys
imapi.sys
redbook.sys
storprop.dll
All located in C:\windows\system32\drivers. Are these M$ IDE?

also in device manager is"

-SCSI and RAID controllers- this contains:
A347SCSI SCSI Controller
SCSI/RAID Host Controller

Nowhere under properties is there a DMA/PIO option shown, nor is there an advanced button under any of the available tabs. The tabs I have are General, Properties, DVD Region, Volumes, Driver, and Details.

Under system devices I do have a Direct Memory Access Controller however there are no driver present and I cannot roll back either. Is this where the problem lies and if so how can I get the drivers.

Also the drive will burn CD’s (the plex 716A)

Thanks again

#4

Look at these

#5

Nosmartz,

I know exactly what you are talking about however in my device manager I do not have the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers listed. That option is not listed for some reason or another, I only see my optical drives under DVD/CD Rom. Do you know how to get these back? Please note that where the optical drives are shown is expanded, that along with the SCSI controllers.

Thanks

#6

I think your problem lies with your motherboard. It has to do with the Intel application driver.I found this somewhere.
“I’ve since discovered that the problem results from installing the Intel Application Accelerator Driver that is found on the Asus Installation CD under Drivers. By the way I have an Asus P4T533-C Motherboard. The minute I install this driver the tabs dissappear. I found I could get the window tabs back by simply uninstalling the Application Accelerator”.
Also this-
“The reason DMA option dissapears under device manager when you install the Intel Application Accelerator is because when you install it, DMA is automatically turned on by the software. If you want to check or change the DMA setting for you drives after you installed the IAA, just use the little app that gets installed on your on your start menu labeled Intel Application Accelerator”.
Here’s the link.Read up and see if it helps. It appears quite a few people have had this problem with the Intel Driver.

#7

seadona > You have IAA running? Get rid of it.

#8

Where is this IAA located and how do I get rid of it. After it is gone will I then be able to view my IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers expansion in device manager (see above for it is not even listed).

Thanks,

#9

Update,

I was able to get back my IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers option in the device manager with a system restore. I then attempted to update the driver and it downloaded the “SCSI/RAID host controllers.” Perfomed another system restore and now I have the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers back again and will not mess with them. However for both primary and secondary I do not have the advanced settings option you guys have mentioned but in addition I cannot find this Intel Application Accelorator either. Please see the pics, I swere I cannot find it on my computer. It is not listed under the add/remove programs either. The pics look odd b/c I removed parts to cut down on size of jpg

Thanks,

#10

You sure are thorough.I’ve been lookin online and everything says that your IAA should be in your IDE/ATAPI section of your device manager but obviously it’s not.I would try that ASUS,ASUS utility,IDE Utility in your programs or maybe even the BIOS(but be careful).Everything I’ve read about IAA say it either works great or it can be a pain in the(well I won’t say).
