I was looking to buy a new DVD writer that will allow me burn the best media at 1x or 2x speed. At the mo I have a BTC 1016, which only allows me to burn TY’s and MCC’s at the lowest speed of 4x, but I require a burner that will let me burn these discs at 1x or 2x.
I use my burner mainly to backup my PS2 games and PS2 backups play more effectively and efficiently when burned at 1x or 2x.
I have tried the Media Code Speed Edit tool to lower the write speed of discs but have found that it mainly works on the cheap media but refuses to work on the good media. I don’t want to keep using the cheap media in case it starts to harm the PS2 laser.
From what I’ve read on this website so far, the most favourable burners tend to be the NEC 3500/3520, Pioneer 107/108/109 and BenQ 16420/1640. But I’m not sure if these burners or any other burners are any good at burning TY’s or MCC’s at lower speeds.
To summarise, I need:
A writer that will allow me to burn good media at lower speed levels and
A writer that is excellent at lower speed burning
Any help, pointers or directions would be greatly appreciated.
