Hi I decided to buy some 8x +r blanks the other day. Anyway I went to back some stuff up put the disk in opened nero but for some reason the only speed I could select was 4x. Is there something you have to enable before writing at 8x?

The fact, that it is 8x media does not mean, that the NEC will write it @8x ;). Perhaps you should try Herries v2b5 Firmware, as there are lots of media supported @8x…

Thanks Ive just updated to that firmware and it is now detecting the disks at 8x shame Ive burnt them all 
Anyway Ive got it sorted for now thanks.
