I have recently heard information that it will be Mediatek on the LiteOn drives. And the original source should really know it.
Did I already mention that I am impatient?
However opening the drive and voiding the warranty shouldn’t be necessary to find out whether it’s Mediatek or NEC chipset. Tools like CD Speed and Binflash should already be able to give an indication on what’s inside.
How would they know if you opened the drive? There are no stickers of any kind. As long as somebody is careful and does not destroy screws, there is no way to tell. I have opened drives before and sent them for warranty repair and never had a problem.
I will open mine when I get it and take pictures.
