NEC ND-6100A won't burn to 16x DVD+R

Hello all,

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100A that has an ND-6100A writer. I just purchased 1000 Verbatim 16x DVD+R discs from Ebay but the drive doesn’t recognise them. It works fine with all +R and +RW discs up to 8x.

I read that I can flash the drive to make it recognise them but Dell say that if I do my warranty (3 years left to run) will be void. Is there any solution to this please, other than buying 8x discs?

+RW up to 8x??

Of course crossflashing voids the warranty, but in 99.9% of all crossflashs it will went okay.

Hint: Backup your current firmware first with BINFLASH.

And NEVER try to mix up master and slave firmwares! The latest Binflash versions should prevent you from doing this.

FWIW, the latest ND-6500 firmwares are the Dell 203d (master) or 403d (slave) firmwares. They support the Verbatim 16x DVD+/-R media ID’s.
