NEC ND-3550a

hi cdfreaks’

i have a problem with my DVD drive , which is

when i put DVD video in it , the drive reads it as a Blank CD with size 0 byte:sad:

i flashed the DVD with more than firmware neither original nor modified.

(Updating) Fimware normally has nothing to do with that.

If no mpeg2 decoder and/or dvd software player is installed, please install one, eg. VLC Tool, PowerDVD or WinDVD.
Then start it up, insert the VideoDVD and try to access it.

Are softwares like Alcohol or DaemonTools installed??

DaemonTools 4.10 installed

Then disable or remove it.

i removed DaemonTools.

and try VLC

and nothing changed …! :frowning:

                                      .0..0:sad:

Try using VLC in SAFE MODE.

no change in the safe mode

>>>> I’m amazed !

So really only 1 session on that disc?!

I would check the drive out in another computer…

Initial post states the drive reads it as a Blank CD with size 0 byte, but post #8 shows it is DVD-R with data on it. Does this mean the problem has been fixed now?

El crappo explorer always shows that info for BLANK DVD media because there is no support for that media/format with windooze.

In that case this seems to be another instance of the common -R read problems for NEC drives detailed at http://club.cdfreaks.com/f86/nec-optiarc-dvd-r-reading-problems-209168/.
IMGBurn and some other programs should be able to read such discs according to info in that thread.
