Nec nd-3530A wont burn to dvd!

my drive will read cd and dvd, and write to cd but will not write to dvd. have tried with both +r & -r with no result. have recently replaced my motherboard and it seems to be since then that the problem has appeared, im pretty sure i updated drivers etc to most recent. anybody any ideas? i can post software/hardware/system details if it helps.

using a amd athlon 64 3800+ processor and it came with winfast c51mcp51 fab1.0 motherboard

Use a proper burning app like Nero!

thanks for that very helpful comment but i have tried using almost every burning app i can think of (including nero) and no difference. i dont think that is what the problem is
