NEC ND 3520A Won't Recognize Blank CDs

Hey. I have an NEC ND 3520A DVD R/W Drive that won’t recognize any of my blank CDs. When I open up its properties in Windows it comes up w/ “This device is disabled. (Code 22)” and I can’t enable it.

It used to work fine before. I just came back from a semester abroad, so I have no idea when it stopped working.

Being not so technologically savvy, can anyone give me some suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

Welcome to the forum.
Try removing the drive from device manager and restart the PC.
If that fails, remove the IDE controller from device manager and restart the PC.
Replace the IDE cable.

If the drive has not been used for a while, there is a chance that the drive mechanism has frozen.

Simply uninstalling it from Device Manager fixed it. Thanks so much!
