I just upgraded my NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD burner from firmware 1.03 to 1.06F through a (Dell computer) service download. But I still cannot burn DVD-R 's! Is there firmware available to perform this and where would I find it?
You could try using the tool mentioned in the update part of this post and flashing a regular 2500/2510 firmware afterwards. But there are also several modified 2500 and 2510 firmwares that should give you -R capabilities
I concur. Use Liggy's Binflash to update to the NEC ND-2510 2.F9 (based on MadDog 2.F9 firmware) found here: http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/25x0.htmlhttp://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/25x0/25x0_2.F9_RPC+RL.rar
Works great for me. The only funky thing is the DVD+RW bitsetting...only works with brand new media (i.e. not erased).
BTW, I noticed that the Dell 106F firmware had DVD+R9 write strategies in it (via Quikee's NecDump). Did it indeed have DVD+R9 (aka DVD+R DL) support?
What does Nero Info Tool tell you about it
My Nero Info Tool says that firmware 106F gives no DVD+DL writing capabilities, not even reading capabilities for DVD+DL!
