NEC ND-1300A will not write DVD's

[qanda]This thread is about the NEC ND-1300A. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]My NEC ND-1300A writer has recently developed a fault, it will not write DVD’s. This is quite recent, previously all OK.
It will read DVD’s and will write CD’s fine.
I would appreciate any advice.
Many thanks.

If it can read & write to CD-R then
Try older blank DVD medias like 4x
Also u can try to open it and clean the lens very carefully.

@ grendawkin,

Welcome to the Forum.

For troubleshooting suggest installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program. Then Burn a DVD. Then post the ImgBurn Log File for analysis.

The Drive seemed to burn OK using Image Burn but it will not burn using Nero or Ashampo.

Also I have cleaned the Lens but still not working.

Is it time to bin the Drive?

@ grendawkin,

From the information posted in your ImgBurn Log File your NEC ND-1300A Optical Drive is operating and functioning correctly with the ImgBurn the software program.

Since your NEC ND-1300A Optical Drive is operating and functioning correctly with the ImgBurn the software program your Nero or Ashampo “Problem” is some type of Nero or Ashampo software configuration problem and is not a problem with your NEC ND-1300A Optical Drive.

Your NEC ND-1300A Optical Drive a 6 year old Optical Drive and you might consider obtaining a newer Optical Drive but before doing so it would be prudent to correct your Nero or Ashampo software configuration problem because there is strong likelihood that your replacement Optical Drive will also experience the same Nero or Ashampo “Problem” that your NEC ND-1300A Optical Drive is currently experiencing.

On checking again, I have discovered that although Image Burn produced this report, nothing was actually written to the Disc, which remains blank and available for use.
