NEC ND-1100A at Komplett.co.uk

I have been thinking about getting a DVD writer for a few weeks.

Main use is for backing up DVD movies.

I know my DVD Player can cope with both + and -.

I notice that Komplett.co.uk have the NEC 1100… would this be the best drive (cheapest) for me?

Thanks

Yeah I was looking at that myself, however i think it is only + I notice they are showing the ND 1300 which is +/- and the price is £170 although it won’t arrive until late April, I think I will hold off and get this one

My first post on here (been lurkin for a while) great place very informative

Although - works fine for me on my home DVD player. Testing with a few friends and 4 out of the 5 I tried coudlnt use the -R

  • Was fine with everyone I tried.

Anyone got this 1100 driver? Any comments??

I with many of my friends in South Korea have NEC ND-1100A. It’s the best DVD writer, I think, for the price.

I have just compared the prices at Komplett.co.uk page.

NEC ND-1100A looks like the only drive worth considering at all in the UK market if there are not any better deals at other retail shops.

It’s just 132 British Pound, 26,000 Japanes Yen, or 215 US Dollars.

Hi all,

jus wana start by sayin great site. I have a nec nd-1100a drive, but i am unsure of which media to buy. does this drive work well with cheap media like datasafe/datawrite???

I am not sure about DataSafe brand but Ritek DVD+R and DVD+RW media work very well considering they are reasonably priced.

And apparently you can flash your NEC 1100 so it can write DVD-R AND DVD+R - identical to the more expensive 1300, somewhere on these forums theres more on this.

I have an NEC ND-1100a and i have very happy with apart from the total lack of firmware releases from NEC.

If you look here http://security.cclcomputers.co.uk/acatalog/index.html?http%3A//security.cclcomputers.co.uk/acatalog/cd_dvdrw.htm&CatalogBody they have the NEC ND-1300a for £119 which is actualy cheaper than the 1100a. They also have the Liteon +RW drive for £113

The 1300 is £109 here :- http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/Hardware_Section__.html

Why quote me? it isnt me that wants it!

I was answering what you had said, otherwise it made less sense. You said you’d found one for £119, I had found one for £10 less. Makes sense to me, and frankly, I’m puzzled how it doesnt make sense to you…

I’ve got a NEC 1100A (Firmware version A04) and Ritek DVD+R don’t work on mine… Not tried the Dvd+Rw, but don’t think I want to waste anymore money!
