NEC America = bad support and lack of knowledge?

Trying to figure out the recent trouble I’ve been having with Verbatim -Rs on a NEC 3520, I contacted NEC’s tech support ( Besides them trying very hard not to be helpful, I recently got a reply with the following dubious piece of wisdom:

“I do see MCC -R 16x media as being supported on the list. But it is not on the
supported media list for +R.”

I’ve had enough with NEC…
