NEC-7170A-0B will not flash. Please help

Just received my new NEC-7170A-0B from NewEgg. Went to flash Liggy and Dee’s firmware, but it fails and gives “error submitting checksum”. I even got binflash 1.34 and dumped the firmware from the drive and tried to flash it back. It gives me the same error. Do I have a bad drive or is something weird going on with binflash? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I have been using Liggy and Dee’s firmware for awhile now on my trusty NEC-3550A, so I am not a nube, just never had this problem before.

This drive needs to be in PIO mode to flash it. The easiest way to do this is to boot Windows in “safe mode” without Network support.
